📍Uyo, Nigeria

You know that feeling when Sunday morning hits and you just want good food without the stress? I’ve been on a mission to find the best brunch spots in Uyo and I’m ready to share my finds.

First up is **The Garden Cafe on Aka Road**. It’s tucked behind the big filling station near the Aka roundabout. Their garden setting is perfect for those breezy mornings. I always go for the akara and pap combo but they also do a mean eggs Benedict with plantain fritters. The coffee there is actually real coffee not just Nescafe.

**Jaja’s Place along Oron Road** is my go-to for something heavier. They have this corner spot near the LeMeridien hotel and their weekend brunch buffet is legendary. The pepper soup rice with fried fish is always a hit but their pancakes with local honey are what keeps me coming back. The waiters know me by now.

Just off **Ikot Ekpene Road** near the big MTN office there is **Buka Bites**. Small place but the owner is a grandmother from Ikot Ekpene who makes the best yam and egg sauce I’ve ever had. They also do a mean jollof rice with grilled chicken that tastes like Sunday at your own grandmother’s house. Cash only here so come prepared.

For the Instagram crowd **The Greenhouse on Udo Udoma Avenue** is your spot. It’s near the Ibom Hotel area and the decor is all plants and fairy lights. Their brunch menu changes weekly but the shakshuka with local bread is a permanent staple. The smoothie bowls are photogenic and actually taste good.

**Mama Nkechi’s at the Abak Road Market** is not a restaurant but trust me her spot in the market sells the best roasted plantain with groundnut sauce you will ever have. It’s cheap and it hits different on a Saturday morning after market shopping.

My hidden gem is **Cloud Nine on Nwaniba Road** near the old airport junction. They do brunch only on Sundays and you must reserve because it gets packed. The pepper soup with catfish is legendary and their fried rice is made with local spices you won’t find anywhere else.

Pro tip: Most of these spots fill up by 11am on weekends so go early. The ones on Aka Road and Oron Road are easier to park at. For the market spot bring small change.
